Three Learnings - Rimworld LP
woaw i love dwarf fortress too :0 and rimworld is cool also im excited to read the awesome tale
Oh my gosh, you're using the mod where you have to deal with ammo? That'd drive me insane.
The artists gave me form, the writers added intelligence, and the fans bestowed purpose. But, above all...
alright, we're finally in, and off to a rocky start?! - oh yeah, i should state for the record that the world is pretty much entirely different now, so ive deleted the prior intro post.
so i'll say: welcome to the planet of Kaos, a rimworld, as to be expected, though one i've modded to near unrecognizability. expect different types of tribes, different types of weapon, xenotypes, everything!! its all the way i like it which might not be the way YOU liike it but at least it might net a story youll enjoy in the end!!
this time i'll take a different approach to the world: its one ive just generated and never played before so we'll learn about it together!! nothing ahead of time.
anyway, lets see our spawn, and–

oh damn it, i guess i should've expected by the fact we've landed in a mountain range, but we ALREADY got bugs??
alright, alright. before things heat up, lets take a look at our esteemed future colonists.

first up we have a bunny, eldwyn. a very upbeat one, apparently!! she lets her feelings drive the path forward, and her feelings seem to actually be mostly positive, judging by her Sanguine trait. how surprising for someone who never got a childhood, on account of being stuck in a coma throughout it. i suppose the high of having a new life to appreciate might override the tragedy? i wonder how long itll last, stuck here.
she's good at plants and animals… an upbeat bunny who's good at plants and animals… somehow, this seems specieist?!

next up is teunis - a girl who seems to appreciate her closest the mostest. very athletic, so she'll be the one getting the colonists nice and cozy down here… i hope she doesn't cause problems when we (eventually) need some help from outside.

last but not least, moriarty, who despite being skilled socially and being considered a diplomat… actually gets competitive, apparently? well, she certainly wont be harming anyone, but she WILL be getting us raw resources for teunis to use. she'll also tend anyone who's hurt… lets hope she's not the first wounded!!

alright, so my first priority here is to get as far away from the bugs as possible. so ive started setting up and punching down trees uhh… on the other side of the map!!

okay, maybe "other side of the map" is some mild exaggeration, but look how much mountain is between us!! good spot, id say?

they work until its dark, but thankfully we at least got the barracks down!! that's one less thing to worry about… speaking of things to worry about, though?

we might be FUCKED on food for a while, and the colonists will be forced to eat moriarty's disgusting slop… because everyone else's slop would be even worse!! so just gotta hang in there until she learns the ropes of cooking
alright, let me just make a big allowed area away from the bugs and– oh god what is that?

MORE FUCKING BUGS???
Smoke them out. Set up traps. Look for FRUIT. Slay the wildlife. Kill EVERYTHING.
The artists gave me form, the writers added intelligence, and the fans bestowed purpose. But, above all...
SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT ONE OF MY COLONISTS WAS DOING WHEN SHE IMMEDIATELY LEFT HER ALLOWED AREA AND GOT EATEN BY THE FUCKING BUGS

and of course, just my luck that its moriarty, the doctor… alright, here we go. here we fucking go.

and of course, just my luck that its moriarty, the doctor… alright, here we go. here we fucking go.

at least the rescue went off without a hitch… lets hope our unskilled doctoring will be enough to save her from the brink… and what the hell is teunis singing for?!

sorry eldwyn, she doesnt care about all that.

thanks to some medicine we will likely not have access to again for a long while, she is no longer in immediate danger… she can even walk again!! though… she's missing some of her toes now, so i wonder how that'll affect her walking, if at all?

that concludes the first day… phew… all in a day's work, i guess?
Smoke them out. Set up traps. Look for FRUIT. Slay the wildlife. Kill EVERYTHING.rest assured, there will now be hell to pay! though that does remind me, we haven't yet planted anything, huh? let's remedy that!!

the second day has begun and moriarty is already walking around like nothing happened! what a trooper, huh?

christ almighty, you are so tone deaf.

but at least she had the decency to make conversation afterwards

we now have a research station!!
eldwyn is getting some plants going while the two other colonists rest… if you've played rimworld, you can likely hazard a guess what she's planting

yep, its rice. hey, if it works it works, right?

oh, and right under we're working on cotton and healroot too… am i cautious, or just doing the bare minimum?
Me personally? I always do potatoes. Gosh, I want to play now...
The artists gave me form, the writers added intelligence, and the fans bestowed purpose. But, above all...
Me personally? I always do potatoes.potatoes are great, theyre more filling and all but rice comes out fast and you can harvest it very early, so i like it earlygame!!

presented without comment.

eldwyn sure is holding true to her nature. she's a total optimist… im hoping that much will rub off on the others for our early days. they wont be easy, we don't really have much space for building, what with the insects and all… so they wont be very happy for a while

that said, though; i built some fortifications!! very basic ones. it'll have to stay like this until we have some cloth harvested, i fear
well, it's the dawn of a new day!!

and a… fourty year old, moth child…? has descended from the sky!

cant lie, i do feel a bit guilty about this random kid getting better quarters than our colonists but… i'd hate to stand idly by while someone loses their life!! .. is what eldwyn would say.

well, it was worth it after all, because we're getting a new member!!

hey, dont look at me. it was your choice!
